As we gather across our nine churches this Remembrance Sunday, we pause to remember with gratitude and humility all those who have given their lives in the service of others, those who have served in our Armed Forces, and those who continue to work for peace and security around the world.
We remember too the families and communities who carry the cost of conflict, and those for whom the wounds of war are still very real.
As Christians, we hold before God a vision of a world where swords are turned into ploughshares, where justice and mercy prevail, and where peace is more than simply the absence of conflict.
May our remembering deepen our commitment to peace, our care for one another, and our determination to build a world where future generations need not know the suffering of war.
We will remember them.
