St Alban’s church is a conveniently located, flexible space. It has capacity for 100 people seated (chairs not pews, which can be moved to create a larger standing area), with extra chairs available from adjoining rooms if not in use.
The Stanton Room is an ideal meeting space with capacity for around 25 seats with tea and coffee making facilities.
St Alban’s was built as a Mission Church by St Laurence Church to serve the people at the top of the town and in memory of Father Stanton who was born at Upfield Paganhill and served as an unpaid priest at St Alban’s Holborn for 50 years.
The church opened in 1916 with the Stanton family donating the stone for the building.
In 1980 Stroud Methodist Church building closed and Stroud Methodists were welcomed to join with the Anglican congregation at St Alban’s, which had a piece of land at the back on which The Wesley Room was built in a sharing agreement including the church and Stanton room.
