Families and Schools

Welcome to our resources for schools and families area of our website!

Here you will find various resources that have been designed to be able to be used in Collective Worship, in the classroom or at home. Each film leaves space for wondering that we hope will spark interesting, age appropriate discussions.

If there are any other resources that would help you, we would be delighted to do all we can to support your wonderful, life changing work.

New Beginnings

In this video we think about New Beginnings, particularly the beginning of a new school year.

Through prayers, actions, story and wondering questions we explore how when we are growing and learning it can sometimes be really hard.
We wonder how, if we keep going, it is worthwhile because, in the end we learn, we become better friends, we get stronger. We leave plenty of spaces for discussion.

Harvest

In this video we think about Harvest, saying thank you and sharing.

Through prayers, games, actions, story and wondering questions we explore what we are thankful for, and what we can do to stand with people who are hungry at this time of year.
We leave plenty of spaces for discussion.

Remembrance

In this video we think about Remembrance and what we do when we remember.

Through prayers, actions, story and wondering questions we explore what we remember at this time of year. We help to remember that the names on war monuments were real people.
We wonder how our remembering helps us to think about how we live, and how important it is to not start little wars with our friends and family. We leave plenty of spaces for discussion.

Christmas

In this video we think about Christmas when Jesus, the light of the world, was born.

Through prayers, actions, drama, story and wondering questions we explore why Christians believe that Jesus is good news, demonstrating a life of love, hope, joy, peace and bringing light into the world, which still shines through people today.
We wonder how we might live lives like that and leave spaces for discussion.

Christingle

In this video we think about Christingle, continuing to think about Jesus as the light of the world, and how we can share light where we live. Through prayers, actions, drama, story and wondering questions we explore what the Christingle represents; Jesus the light of the world, the seasons and the good things we enjoy from the earth. We will encourage each other to share light in the darkness. We wonder about the beauty of the earth, the ways humans spoil the earth, people we love and people who need to receive love, and leave spaces for discussion.

Lent

In this video, we think about Lent. We think about how this is a season of turning around, turning towards God.

Through prayers, actions, drama, story and wondering questions we explore the story of the Running Father [often called the Prodigal Son], and how it doesn’t matter how messy our lives get, God will always welcome us back.

We will encourage each other to make good choices, remembering there are always new beginnings with God, and we will leave spaces for discussion.

Easter Joy

In this video, we think about Easter. We think about how signs of spring give us clues about Easter and ask what eggs have to do with Easter.

Through prayers, actions, story and wondering questions we explore the story of the first Easter day and how life and hope burst out of the tomb with the risen Jesus.

We offer the opportunity to find hope and life today in sad situations.

Pentecost

In this video, we think about the breath of God moving through the world giving life to every living thing. We call the breath of God the Holy Spirit – whose coming into the world we celebrate at Pentecost, which is at the end of the month of May.

Through prayers, music, wondering questions and a story of coming through Covid, we think about the breath of God helping us and others.

With the help of the trees, we will stop and listen to the breath of God (the Holy Spirit) in the world, and around us – bringing peace.

Communion during this time

In these unprecedented times, we are working hard to find imaginative solutions in a landscape that has been rapidly changing. Sometimes we get things right, and sometimes we miss the mark. I apologise that this has been the case regarding communion.

For those of you who have received wafers in a parcel, we would ask that you either consume them, or put them somewhere safe to bring back once we are able to be together again.

We are going to be sending out a new order of service for use during this time as either a simple service of the word or, on occasion, to help us to share an Agape meal together.
