Post Lambeth message from Bishop Rachel and Robert

Since 1867, the Lambeth Conference – a gathering of the bishops of the Anglican Communion – has taken place approximately once every ten years. Bishops gather at the invitation of the Archbishop of Canterbury to pray together, study the Bible, to hear the struggles and joys that each experience in their local contexts and to address the issues facing the world.

Our bishops, Rachel and Robert, have returned from this year’s Lambeth Conference.  You will be aware that there has been much discussion, and also some confusion, in the media around things discussed at this year’s conference. To clarify and summarise much of what happened, a ‘post Lambeth’ message from  both of our bishops can be found here

Communion during this time

In these unprecedented times, we are working hard to find imaginative solutions in a landscape that has been rapidly changing. Sometimes we get things right, and sometimes we miss the mark. I apologise that this has been the case regarding communion.

For those of you who have received wafers in a parcel, we would ask that you either consume them, or put them somewhere safe to bring back once we are able to be together again.

We are going to be sending out a new order of service for use during this time as either a simple service of the word or, on occasion, to help us to share an Agape meal together.
