St Matthew’s in Cainscross is a beautiful 1830s Neo-Gothic church with a purpose-built, fully fitted hall attached.
It is in the hub of the community, situated next to Victory Park (with small car park), and St Matthews Primary school on the other side. There is also plenty of on-street parking around the church.

The buildings are located just off the Westward Road, on the edge of Ebley, just 5 minutes drive from Stroud Town Centre, or a pleasant 20-30 minute walk along the canal. There are excellent bus links to Cainscross, and the nearby train station is in Stroud Town Centre.

St Matthews Church has a large, stunning interior, with fantastic acoustics, and as such is very popular with choirs and orchestras. The pew seating comfortably seats 200, with further space at the back for additional seating if required.

The attached Hall has a fully fitted kitchen, with oven, fridge, microwave and kettle. It is a large hall, suitable for parties, community groups, exercise classes, the list goes on

(please note, the Hall is unavailable for hire during weekdays, Term Time Only).

Communion during this time

In these unprecedented times, we are working hard to find imaginative solutions in a landscape that has been rapidly changing. Sometimes we get things right, and sometimes we miss the mark. I apologise that this has been the case regarding communion.

For those of you who have received wafers in a parcel, we would ask that you either consume them, or put them somewhere safe to bring back once we are able to be together again.

We are going to be sending out a new order of service for use during this time as either a simple service of the word or, on occasion, to help us to share an Agape meal together.
