Stroud Parish Churches Book for Lent

The Stroud Parish Churches’ book group is starting to read this book which has been selected by the Archbishops to support this year’s Lent theme of ‘watch and pray’, wisdom for all of life. The book is described as ‘profoundly hopeful’ and ‘full of stories’ as well as ‘fresh reflection on familiar biblical passages’. Dr Selina Stone is a research associate in theological education at Durham university, writer, speaker, preacher and podcast producer.
The group will meet from 4pm- 5.30pm on 6th March and discuss all or some of the author’s explorations of various themes: these are darkness as a place of encounter with the divine, the unity of all things, movement belonging and migration, the unexpected movement of God’s Spirit, quiet contemplation, healing in community and going from weeping to joy. Intrigued? You are welcome to join in with our reflections and questions and appreciation of the tea/coffee and home-made cake.
Please contact Helen by email at helen.hill@stroudparishchurches.org.uk if you would like to come on 6th.

Communion during this time

In these unprecedented times, we are working hard to find imaginative solutions in a landscape that has been rapidly changing. Sometimes we get things right, and sometimes we miss the mark. I apologise that this has been the case regarding communion.

For those of you who have received wafers in a parcel, we would ask that you either consume them, or put them somewhere safe to bring back once we are able to be together again.

We are going to be sending out a new order of service for use during this time as either a simple service of the word or, on occasion, to help us to share an Agape meal together.
